The dangerous, decrepit, about-to-explode DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT is dissected by DR. JERRY BROWN of the WORLD BUSINESS ACADEMY in Santa Barbara.

Dr. Brown is spearheading a major lawsuit agains the California Lands Commission, demanding that it require Diablo’s owners to obey state law and require an Environmental Impact Report at the dying nuke.  The CLC has granted Diablo lease extensions that could allow it to operate to 2025, by which time earthquakes, terrorism, standard incompetence and other disasters could have reduced it to an apocalyptic pile of radioactive rubble.

New studies have shown California has a glut of power and no need for the errant, dangerous, radioactive power from the two reactors at Diablo Canyon, which dump 2.5 billion gallons of hot water every day into the ocean.
 Meanwhile the accumulated waste at San Onofre is being shoved into substandard casks that will corrode, crack and leak into the coming centuries with horrific impacts on our natural planet.
 The good news:  the nuke industry is collapsing, and we have ample renewable technologies to replace ALL these reactors in a short period of time.

Today we celebrate VICTORY AT STANDING ROCK with California-based activist and chi gong teacher VIVIENNE VERDON-ROE.  Vivienne has written a beautiful essay on the ceremonies surrounding the Standing Rock struggle in her hometown of Bolinas, and has circulated a new bumper sticker that says “Life is Fragile, Love is the Glue.”  Coming into her fabled town in another sign:  “We Still Have Each Other”.

We then revisit this year’s stolen election, with ELECTION PROTECTION activist LORI GRACE, my co-author and political scientist BOB FITRAKIS, and STEVE ROSENFELD of Alternet.  As we continue to sift through the debris of what’s left of American democracy, we look to new solutions for a badly broken system.
