As the “Red Wave” turns into a pathetic ripple, we’re joined by TATANKA BRICCA and KEVIN KAMPS, two of America’s leading experts on election protection, nuclear power & solar energy.

We focus first on the stunning transformation of a pro-Trump “Red Wave” into at best a pink trickle.

The powerful rise of women voters and Millennial/zoomers born after 1980 dominated the electorate in an outcome that has shocked the punditocracy and may have repelled a pro-fascist assault on our democracy. 

Like wise the California Public Utilities Commission seems now to be backing off its attempt to tax rooftop solar panels.  It is messing instead with net metering paybacks, which could hurt but not kill the green energy industry.

But under intense public pressure, the CPUC may be retreating from an all-out attack on an industry that employs more than 70k workers in CA alone. 

At the same time CA Gov. Gavin Newsom and MI Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are boosting dangerously decayed old atomic reactors for future operations.

GUNS & THE YOUTH VOTE WITH DAVID HOGG & JOHN ROSENTHAL

 

 

We devote the first hour of the GREE-GREE zoom gathering #116 with the great DAVID HOGG and a deep dive into two issues at the core of American politics:  gun violence and youth turnout.

 

Now a senior at Harvard University, Hogg has become a national icon in the movement to lower the death toll from guns and motivate the youth vote.

 

David’s work, in tandem with JOHN ROSENTHAL, has significantly changed views of gun registration and control in Massachusetts and elsewhere.

 

Hogg and Rosenthal have helped pioneer the AMERICA CALLING organization which aims to vastly expand the turnout among young voters.

 

Rosenthal’s efforts, in conjunction with Hogg, have tangibly lowered the gun violence death rate in Massachusetts, and could do the same nationwide, saving more than 26,000 lives.

 

These two grea activists are already legends in making real change in American politics.  

 

Rooted in the younger generations now taking control of the electorate, while simultaneously working to end gun violence, they are not to be missed.

REP. JAMIE RASKIN OF THE 1/6 COMMITTEE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS

 

 

 

Our 115th GREE-GREE Session is honored with the presence of US REPRESENTATIVE JAMIE RASKIN, Democrat of Maryland, prominent member of the 1/6 Committee.

 

We first pose to him the hope to remove the statue of General George McClellan from the streets of DC, and for official recognition of Sally Hemings as the third First Lady of the United States.

 

We hear from MIKE HERSH about the details of Rep. Raskin’s great career.

 

Rep. Raskin then lays out the case for federal criminal prosecution against Donald Trump.

 

Our own JOEL SEGAL tells of his long-standing friendship with Rep. Raskin, and then asks critical legal questions on prosecuting Trump and on preserving our democracy.

 

RAY MCCLENDON of the Georgia NAACP gives us a critical presentation of the desperate need to shift the Democratic Party to becoming an actual democracy organization with a shift to grassroots organizing.  

 

McClendon underscores the need to stop pouring millions of donor dollars into media advertising and switch to establishing the kind of GOTV / person-to-person campaigning that won the “Georgia Miracle” in 2021, shifting control of the US Senate.

 

BRYNN TANNEHILL informs the Rep. on the plight of trans citizens under Republican regimes.

 

DENNIS BERNSTEIN of the nationally-syndicated FLASHPOINTS radio show hears from Rep. Raskin on how to protect the vote in places like Florida and Arizona, as well as the danger of “madman” Putin using nuclear weapons.

 

JIM GARRISON of the Ubiquity Institute asks why Donald Trump is not yet in prison, to which Rep. Raskin responds with a strong second to that notion.

We begin GREE-GREE #113 with a celebration of Indigenous People’s Day led by TATANKA BRICCA and the reminder that whatever democracy and freedom we enjoy in America is rooted with our native peoples---especially with the Hodenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy.

 

JOEL SEGAL fills us in on the fight of Puerto Rico to rise again from yet another horrific storm, one that’s also brought terrifying death and destruction to much of Florida.

 

We then hear from CHRISTIAN NUNES, President of the National Organization for Women, as she and WENDI LEDERMAN take us on a deep dive into the core of women’s issues in the world today.  Roe v. Wade is “on the ballot” and, as Christian tells us, the issues cut far deeper than abortion.

 

What we're seeing, we hear, is about men trying to deepen their control over women, creating more slavery, autocracy and privilege among the rich.

 

The attack on a woman’s right to control her own body is inseparable from the fight for democracy and the desperate need to save our planetary ecology.

Thankfully, we’re joined by the uniquely powerful JUDITH WHITMER, rebel Chair of the Democratic Party of Nevada, where an uprising of grassroots activists has transformed the playing field. 
Judith has helped lead the charge to at last put the Democratic Party apparatus in reach of grassroots activists who actually support a progressive agenda….and who are willing to fight for a progressive agenda.
We learn from GREG COLERIDGE that the horrendous Citizen’s United does not protect dark money’s ability to buy primaries, as they’re themselves the bailiwick of private corporations, ie the political parties.  
Thus we realize the possibility of actually having fair and accessible systems to choose partisan candidates, a revolutionary development to say the least.
DOROTHY REIK, THERESA BONPANE, JUSTIN LEBLANC, MARY STONEWALL and others chime in with great questions.
We’re FURTHER joined by WENDI LEDERMAN, who has compiled a brilliant and extremely important roster of non-partisan grassroots organizations around the country.

We are then joined by the legendary KEITH ELLISON, Attorney-General of Minnesota and lead prosecutor in the legendary George Floyd case.  

Keith is a former multi-term US Representative and Vice-Chair of the national Democratic Party.  

We discuss with him the relatively safe, democratic voting conditions in Minnesota and the desperate need to replicate them nationwide.

Keith is gratefully joined by RAY MCCLENDON of the Georgia NAACP, connecting powerful pro-democracy organizers in critical states where conditions are very different.
